Q: Aren't Christian Scientists the ones who don't go to doctors?
A: Often students of Christian Science are immediately and
effectively healed through prayer. Financial woes, physical ailments
and relationship difficulties have all been healed through Christian
Science treatment. For this reason, many students of Christian Science
choose spiritual solutions for all their problems. However, there is no
church doctrine that prohibits students from seeking medical attention
if they so desire.
Q: What makes Christian Science Christian?
A: Christian Science is the answer to Christ Jesus' command to
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils.
(Matthew 10:8).
It is the universal healing message of the
Christ that can be proven (hence the term Science) in the experience of
any sincere seeker. The church that was founded to promote this healing
message is designed "to commemorate the word and works of our Master,
which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of
healing." (Church Manual by Mary Baker Eddy).
